Maria Faiomy

“I am so proud of being part of BRAC as it gives me inspiration and we can do what we love”
Maria’s childhood interests of colouring and crafts has evolved into creating an extensive mixture of artwork ranging from fabric arts and embroidery as well as an interest in crochet and sewing. Themes of her work includes reflecting on the beauty of womanhood as well as incorporating traditional artwork about Sudan.

Maria’s love for fabric work is reflected in her dream to become a fashion designer, and she thanks her family for being an inspiration as well as sharing a common interest in art.

Maria has been part of BRAC for three years and feels that being involved in the community has helped form inspiration for her artwork as well as being part for a supportive and positive group, which has helped her gain confidence in sharing ideas for projects as well as her communication skills. Maria also found BRAC to be a supportive community during the lockdowns of the COVID-19 pandemic as it helped to keep her relaxed and occupied through the escapism of creativity.
